Yeah, you can remove the turbos. Cars with blown turbos still drive but poorly. If you remove the turbos you'd have to spend a buttload on a 2.7 non-turbo exhaust manifold, exhaust downpiping as well as the intake manifold, as the intercooler (which I'm pretty sure it has) is hooked to. It would probably cost you $400+ just to do this, but you could get paid back by selling the 2 turbos (if there are 2) for $200/ea. You motor's compression is low so without the turbos your car will loose a 50-70hp, if not more. It's just not a smart way to go at all. You might as well sell the car and get a non-turbo model. Your turbo car is worth more than an n/a anyway. Hope this explains more than that previous dude said, "You can, but why would you?"

The first thing that you need to do will be to check the freon levels in the system and then work from there...............
When your transmission is in park, it has a key release switch that can get corroded over time. I cleaned mine on my older Audi. You might be able to do that on yours.
If it is intermittent, run the lever from park to neutral, then back to park. Turn the key to start, but do not start the car. turn the key back to the off position. It should then pull out.
