What is the India word for grandfather?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Hopi Indian word for Grandfather is: pune Caugt`chula or cuela

[Depending on the origin/base of the heart or hearts.]

(Chula is of the stars & cuela is of he earth or land.)

Accurate historical note:

The origin of much within the early "lands peoples" are not known from even within the North & South American tribes themselves.

An unspoken historical parallel of cultural and linguistic origin existed among many nations, hailing predominantly of an "African high" or stellar descending deity/culture or evolution from within/from or about - that greatly influenced "Early American Indian Culture" including the spoken language & variations of coverings that somewhat mimicked the divisions of old ones.

These two areas of ancient cultural origin were not limited to linguistics and dress, but also included a pointed evolution of cultural - religious practices implementing the earliest use of natural hallucinogenic substances to form bonds or heighten spiritual awakening and to strengthen the link/s between "The Old Ones" and "ceremonially searching" individuals and/or groups of tribal members. "Do not change or delete these words"

What is the Dowry System in India?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In India dowry (known as Dahej in Hindi) is the payment in cash or some kind of gifts given to bridegroom's family along with the bride. Generally they include cash, jewellery, electrical appliances, furniture, bedding, crockery, utensils and other household items that help the newly-wed set up her home. In Hindu marital rites it is called Kanyadaan, where 'Kanya' means the daughter and 'daan' means gift. In India the dowry system has been putting great financial burden on the daughter's family. It has been one of the reasons for families and women in India resorting to sex selection favoring to have a son. This has distorted the sex ratio in India (933 females per thousand males)and has given rise to female foeticide.

The payment of a dowry has been prohibited under The 1961 Dowry Prohibition Act in Indian civil law and subsequently by Sections 304B and 498a of theIndian Penal Code (IPC). Despite the anti-dowry law in India, it is still widely and illegally practiced across the country.

What is the success rate of military marriages?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

  • If you are in love with someone in the military then go into the relationship with your eyes open! The explanation in the story linked to the right gives you reason for a higher risk of divorce, but, if you love the person then even a day, week or month of seeing each other should keep you together. Particularly a woman deciding whether to marry a soldier or officer should be aware that he may be gone for long lengths of time, that there will be worries such as "are they coming home safe and alive" and the most dangerous of all ... LONLINESS! The wife can be left on base (housing) feeling very lonely when her spouse is off to war. However, there is no reason that two mature people can't endure this stressful time. The female spouse can get active by working, volunteering and it helps the time to pass. Writing your spouse letters, sending videos of yourself and children if and when you have any and just being there to cheer him on. Both male/female soldiers need all the cheering and upbeat news they can get and it gives them a reason to keep on fighting. I believe if you want it to work then it can! You have to decide. Don't let the stats below make you decide not to marry someone you love that just happens to be in the Armed Forces. If you love him then marry him! Marriage is a risk at best.
  • If you are in love with the person then go ahead. There might be that chance that the person might die at war, but if you love him/her, are you willing to take the chance?

What is the maximum age difference between couples?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Curious2know: i am 18 and my girlfriend is 24 is that unusual? i dont really feel that age matters in this relationship but i have found that most people dont approve of this relationship why? Answer I think this situation might be a little different because there can be a big difference between someone who is 18 and someone who is 24. It depends on the individuals but this one of those areas where age difference can be a bit of a problem. Most people feel that someone who is 24 has experienced many more things than an 18 year old even though that may not be the case. I know many 18 year olds who have experienced much more than some of the 23 and 24 year olds that I know. I guess really, unless it's your parents who disapprove, it's really no one else's business. People tend to get hung up on chronological years instead of the person as an individual. Everyone is different. It could be a problem for you if the girlfriend is someone who is much more advanced than you. If you are both fairly equal as far as relationships, sexual experiences, etc. then I don't t think it matters. If she is someone who has been married, divorced and/or has children it could be a tough relationship because she has experienced things that you have not maybe. Answer As long as a minor is not involved, age does not matter. It depends on the two people. I knew a woman who was 18 years older than her husband. He was thirty something year olds and she was around 50. They had a wonderful marriage for 40 years. He passed away before she did. She passed away a year later. There are no rules for age differences, like I said, unless a minor person is involved. Xzath99: I say a 7 year difference at the maximum. But i agree with the minor thing

What does the red dot on the forehead mean in India?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It is actually Hindu women who wear it. The majority of Indians are of the Hindu faith, but not all of them. The commonly held belief is that it signifies that the woman is not, and never has been, married. However, I did a Google search and discovered that this is completely false. It actually represents a person's third eye. Hindus believe that everyone has three eyes: two looking outwards at the physical world, and one looking inwards towards the Divine. So, it symbolizes their faith in God, and reminds them to always keep God in their thoughts.

Also, the dot is not just for women. Men can wear it too, although in this day and age, usually only women opt to wear it. And it doesn't have to be red, either. It can be any color they want.

Where can a 17 year old girl get married to an 37 year old guy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Every state in the US will allow a 17 year old girl to marry with parental and/or judicial consent. (Some states require both, some allow either, but in practice, judicial consent is only granted without parental consent if the couple can show very good reason they should be allowed to get married. The girl being pregnant is normally considered "very good reason," but with such a large age disparity that opens a whole other can of worms, namely statutory rape.)

Assuming you don't have parental consent:

The minimum age without parental/judicial consent is 18 in every state with the exceptions of Nebraska where it's 19 and Mississippi where it's 21. So wait a year and you can do it almost anywhere. If you don't still want to get married in a year, then you shouldn't be getting married in the first place.

Is there a name for the parents of your daughter-in-law?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The English language has no term to describe a relationship between you and the parents of your daughter-in-law. In English-speaking cultures, you are not related.

If you have to refer to them other than by name, you can call them "my son's parent's-in-law" or "my daughter-in-law's parents."

Why Indian parents-in-laws are so cruel to their daughter-in-laws?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Indian sons are reared to take care of their parents and have a deep responsibility to family in general. Unfortunately, when a daughter-in-law enters into the picture it becomes a competition. I wish I knew a bit more about your situation to better answer your question. Suffice it to say, not all Indian in laws are cruel to their daughter in law. However, it is common enough.

Of course, there are many daughter in laws who can and do return in kind.

If you cannot win her affections or support, try to find it with other members of the family--starting with your husband.
